One of Swords Podcast 127: It’s Like Monkeys

by Dan on June 27, 2012

This week, we meet the winners of the 2012 Activision Independent Games Competition — Chris Hui and Michael Stanton, who shared the $250,000 prize pool. We talk about what they’ve created, what they’re going to do with all that money, and what took so damn long for them to be crowned the winners in the first place. The rest of the show is the usual nonsense with Kat and Hugh, barking about The Amazing Spider-Man, Transformers syntax, Skylanders e-books, Q from Star Trek: TNG, Atari history, Wreck-It Ralph, NASCAR drivers, Megan Fox’s thumb, Crazy Climber, and fighting on the moon. Also, live kittens.

I’ve read some theories that Nintendo allowed Disney to use their characters in Wreck-It Ralph under the condition that a game be exclusive to Nintendo platforms, but I don’t know whether or not that is true.

Kasey Kahne is not prounounced as “Kahn”, but rather “cain” like Cain and Abel.

To her credit, Kat suggested that first and I told her it was probably wrong. :/
