PS3 Elite content season begins February 28

We have a release date! The first two PlayStation 3 content drops for the Modern Warfare 3 content season will be released for Call of Duty Elite premium members on February 28. The maps are Piazza, a lovely seaside town filled with blind corners and sudden staircases, and Liberation, inspired by a centrally located public park in Manhattan.

If you’re an Elite premium member, you’ll get an in-game message on the MW3 multiplayer menu on February 28, letting you know the new stuff’s ready to download. If you’re not a premium member, these maps will be released to the general public some time in the future (they have not specified a date yet). And of course, you can still join up if you want all the new content over the nine-month season.

    I’m going to admit, a month between 360 & PS3 is kind of a kick in the nuts to PS3 owners. It’ll be an even swifter kick if non-Elite 360 folks get their stuff in any time frame that is less than 4 weeks.

    I’m glad the delay is (roughly) 30 days from the 360 Elite Premium counterparts. I would’ve hated it if it was 30 days after the non-premium date.

    What a joke (not at you dan) 35 days after ELITE Xbox Subs Pro Rata that forward 9 months and last drop for ELITE PS3 Subs is Oct 28th now thats 2 weeks before COD9. I pitty the non ELITE Xbox Subs Non ELITE PS3 subs and mostly the PC guys who never got the opportunity to get an ELITE Sub. They may not see final 
    Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection until 1 week or after COD9 Release.

    I do belive that Activison have finally lost the plot….

    they could bring ELITE Xboxs subs date forward but this would Mean that ELITE Xbox Subs will get 2x monthly content Weeks Before ELITE PS3 Subs.

    Activision have gotten this all wrong as it stands if release dates stand the same ELITE Xbox Subs get second drop BEFORE ELITE PS3 Subs.

    Remember ELITE Xbox Subscribers get it First and twice as often (anyone remember hearing that at the ELITE announcement at CODXP) Me neither

    Its been like this for years….A kick in the nutts? Good things come to those who wait. I wouldnt trade my PS3 for a Xbox with free dlc.

    i just think it is plain dumb that us ps3 users are after xbox yeah lets charge the same amount for elite even though we get used stuff. how unprofessional is that. and why are we four days late not just 30 days but 34. us ps3 users can not play against xbox so what does it matter. maybe they should get there shit together and and find a way to get xbox, pc and ps3 to be able to play each other.. and i dont care if xbox owns modern warfare or not xbox is a crappy systems that cost you in repairs and damaged discs and no blu-ray wtf.. we should get map pack at the same time…pull your head out and get it right or charge us ps3 users less for elite or give us something for the poor service we get!!!!!!!!

    Think of it this way…….

    First Drop
    ELITE Xbox Subs >> Jan 24th.
    ELITE PS3 Subs >> Feb 28th.
    Non ELITE Xbox Users >> March

    Now according to previous dlc and the 2010 agreement Xobox get dlc before PS3 and PC (around 30days) Agreement hasn’t been changed and ELITE as we have seen has no impact on this.

    Non ELITE PS3 Users + PC users >> April

    Last Drop (based on above start dates)

    ELITE Xbox Subs >> Sept 25th.
    ELITE PS3 Subs >> Oct 30th.
    Non ELITE Xbox Users >> Nov.
    Non ELITE PS3 Users + PC users >> Dec.

    now is it me or do the dates and the agreement just not work.

    I wrongfully thought paying for Elite the wait wouldn’t be the same full month. Gotta please the folks giving the $ for “exclusive” access though. Very curious to see when regular 360 folks will get their DLC though.

    When was the next Call of Duty’s release date announced? I must have missed that…
    Activision is spreading out the DLC so that people will have new content for almost an entire year. When the next CoD comes out you do not have to stop playing MW3. Black Ops is STILL the second most played game on Xbox LIVE.

    I like the fact we got a date now, but why hold it back so long?  If you would have said the date when xboxs was announced, then I think most would have been fine with it.  I know from here on out though, that I will not be not paying full price for COD or pay for elite.  So far Elite as been far from its name, and with the delay in releases (you know xbox is going to pay a ton more to lock it in for more years)  I personally thought that once you pay for something (Elite) you should be getting better service.  The only way I would stay with elite is if they did drop xbox as the first release and make it all platform release(the way to make all sides happy with you and your product).

    People PAY for Xbox Live & that enables Microsoft to PAY for timed exclusivity deals with companies like Activision & Bethesda. It’s one of the many perks to non-free gaming. Not for nothing, but PS3 kids want free online & they’re getting what they pay for . . .

    You literally have no clue what you’re talking about. People pay for XBL, thereby enabling Microsoft to reach financial [timed] exclusivity deals with publishers like Activision & Bethesda. If you don’t like it, don’t bitch about Xbox like an ignorant child, bitch about Sony not ponying up the dough like Microsoft does — you wanted free online & you’re getting what you pay for: absolutely nothing. Moreover, Every Xbox console comes w/ a 3 year full warranty so no one has to pay for repairs. Additionally, most games are developed on the 360 & ported to the PS3 which is why current 360 games like MW3 & Skyrim suffer virtually none of the issues that plague their PS3 counterparts. If you prefer the PS3, good, I hope you dig your console; but don’t be the typical little fanboy jagoff that doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about. Cheers.

We are going to get the maps… You paid for the Elite… we PS3 users still get the same amount of content with the same amount of wait time that we have been waiting for maps in the past. Elite is worth the money because we will get more content through out the year instead of having to wait until there is a 4 pack map pack like im pretty sure non elite members will have to do. Besides, if you dont like waiting then go buy and XBOX and play the maps until they come out on PS3 then you wont have to complain about it on every board about how unfair it is.

    that it might be but the whole idea is about new stuff so old cod will be out of the window. cod9 was announced in an Activision Earnings call slated for nov as with previous titles.

    if it’s second most played there that must tell you something about mw3

    get on topic the fact that you pay to play online has nothing to do with the fact the activision hid that the new elite service of 2011 was not exempt from the agreement of 2010.

    Elite is a new paid subscription for 

    the agreement was for dlc and had nothing to do with elite

    It’s perfectly on point. Paying for XBL is the sole reason MS has the $$ for timed exclusivity. If you were daft enough to think Elite DLC would be magically exempt from the timed DLC exclusivity deal, that’s your own stupidity. Common sense — google it.

    Non-premium Xbox 360 poayers will have the opportunity to purchase the first MW3 Content Collection in late March. The first Content Collection will include the January, February and March content drops and will cost $15.

    Let’s face it, Call of Duty has seemed to get more and more greedy, and such things like that over the years. Also, don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of Call of Duty, even mw3. However, mw3 has made some mistakes in my view. Instead of this random number of maps every month, I would much rather have it like Black Ops, or Mw3, where you get 4-5 maps every map pack. Also, Black Ops and Mw2 had there map packs out already, and had practically set dates for xbox and ps3 users on the map packs. But mw3 has gotten sloppy, and is kinda throwing out bits of information here and there, they haven’t released much real legit information. Also, on the topics of maps, I think they need to make these new maps have different engines, or gameplays to them. Like in Black ops, they had almost perfect size maps, and great obstacles in them, not to small and cornerish, but not to open and big. Mw3 has made many of their maps, not necasarily to big, but alot of open views, or  long strecthes. It’s not bad if there are open streches, but to a point, I think there’s too many of them in mw3.

    John, you have so many assumptions at this point that it’s kind of dangerous. You’ve worked out dates through December based on two release dates out of 40, and you now have a theory that the partnership agreement was changed? These are all your leaps of logic. Be careful, as I don’t think they’re going to be shown as accurate.

    There are no stupid questions, so please don’t feel bad about asking. The maps are not free, but they will be available to Elite premium members at no additional charge. That is, those people prepaid all the DLC for the year for $49.99 when they signed up, so they do not have to pay anything else. They are “free downloads” only in that they are not being charged again, they’ve already paid in advance at a discount. 

    These maps will eventually be released later for non-Elite members, but we don’t know when or how much. But either way, it’s paid content. Hope that clears it up.

    You do have that freedom of choice, but keep in mind that the $50 Elite subscription is going to be less than buying them a la carte. If you only want some of the maps, you’re making the right call, but if you’re the kind of player who wants all the maps, Elite is actually offering the same content at a discount (and all the other things that Elite offers).

    Dan all we can do is assume as we have nothing to go on all i have is best guess. Best Guess on what we know to be true and what shouldn’t happen ie for ELITE Xbox Subs to get second drop before ELITE PS3 subs get their first.

    Imagine the uproar then Users are hacked off so much at the moment this will just add fuel to the fire.
    so based on that this is what i have based my dates on which based on everything that has gone before can only be the possible outcome which means Activision will come up short

    as stated all is best guess based on dates and hopes that things will not happenand past releases i hope it is #EPICFAIL but i cannot see it with the 2010 agreement set in 2 phases and the 9 month out of 10 schedule one can only come to that conclusion.
