Yes, this is my actual laptop.
I am a major Van Halen fan. I wrote about the band a few times in my former life, and I bleed red, white, and black. I had already taken my fandom into the game realm back in 2007, so when rumors of a VH edition of Guitar Hero first surfaced, I was all over them, and even helped foster them. However, when the game finally came out in late 2009 as little more than a preorder incentive, I was a little sad. I hoped this game would be an opportunity for everybody to appreciate one of my favorite bands. As a result, getting people to play Guitar Hero: Van Halen is still one of my goals — for the music more than anything.
This week, Van Halen’s new album, A Different Kind of Truth — the first with original singer David Lee Roth since 1984′s, uh, 1984 — hits stores. Amazon says my copy is already en route. And now I get to do a Van Halen giveaway in honor of this hopefully not-super-disappointing musical event.
It’s not well known, but there is an official GHVH controller faceplate. I have just two of these left; they fit on either PS3 or Xbox 360 guitars from GHWT or Guitar Hero 5. That being the case, the faceplate will come with copies of the game for both platforms.

So we can all save the earth a little bit Right Now, I have some USB GH battery chargers, with a spare battery for non-stop rocking:

I’ve also got some other doodads in the prize closet — mini GH guitar toys, a flaming GH guitar strap, a nice GH logo hat, because hatters gonna hat.

And I promise there will be more GH goodies in there as well. They’re small, but fans will get a kick out of them. Let’s leave it as a surprise.
I have two of these prize packs to give away. Just answer the trivia question correctly and fill out the form before the end of Wednesday, February 15, and I’ll send out some FedEx boxes later in the week. [UPDATE: Forgot to add a link to the FAQ, which says I don't do anything devious with your personal information.] One entry per person please, and may you have better luck than Gary Cherone.
UPDATE 2/16: Congrats to Eric Beam of Mahonoy City, PA and Keith Fischetti from Moriches NY — they both knew Michael Anthony is the one true bassist of Van Halen. :) They’re getting prize packs soon!
