One of Swords Podcast 104: Losers Weepers

by Dan on January 18, 2012

The incredible I-Wei Huang joins me to discuss not only his work in creating all the Skylanders characters — from sketch to sculpt to finished toy on the shelves — but also his fascinating other creations, such as steam-powered R/C cars. Then Hugh has a big reveal to cap off a conversation that includes Prototype 2 comics, a lost score, MW3′s NPD dominance, schoolyard rules, Deadpool, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, the Black Eyed Peas, and how to pronounce “lycanthropy.” (It’s “lahy-KAN-thruh-pee.”)

The werewolf part is actually the part of Hugh’s book that interests me most.  The Michael Crichton and Tom Clancy parts don’t appeal to me very much.  I was hoping for something funny from Hugh, not an action novel.  Too bad.  It sounds like a game I might like, but not a book I would choose.

That video was so cool/inspiring! I can’t wait to listen to the podcast when I get to work. Hugh’s book sounds like my cup of tea as well!

Fair enough, but there’s a LOT of humor in the book. When I post the sample, I think you’ll find my voice loud and clear in the characters. And this novel explores werewolves and their mythology in a way that’s never been done before.

I’m pretty confident I’ll be able to win you over as more details come to light. :)

Glad to hear Hugh’s enthusiasm towards his book.
