The COD: Black Ops MP event liveblog

Tonight at 6pm Pacific, there’s a big media event — the full reveal of multiplayer for COD: Black Ops, as promised by the trailer a few weeks ago. I will be there. Doors open at 6, theater opens at 6:30, presentation starts at 7. I am hoping — internet connections willing — to liveblog that presentation. I will not be alone, as there are dozens of media outlets from around the world that will be in attendance. There will not be a live video stream of the event (media will play the game & interview Treyarch, which will offer a more complete overview anyway) but trust me — not only will you not miss any news, you will be unable to avoid it!

This is my first liveblog and I’ll be at the mercy of Wi-Fi. Assuming all the tech stuff works out, this is where the magic will happen:

But that’s not all. The Black Ops team is manning its Facebook page and will be handling Q&A live during the event, based on the most common and popular questions. There’s a Facebook event for the occasion, so chime in there.

If you are in the UK and you are concerned about missing anything that might be revealed while you’re asleep, there’s no reason for concern. There’s no live video stream or anything like that. Just wake up Thursday and the info will be waiting for you at your favorite news outlet.

    Yeah, they weren’t aware that there would be no video streaming until after they had already promised it. But Activision did film the presentation themselves for their own video, and there will be tons of footage from everything else that happened tonight. Just check media outlets and community sites.

    Good question. I do not know what, if any, differences will exist on Wii. It was not discussed during the presentation and I did not get time with the devs myself yet.

    Yes, watch callofduty.com, there’s going to be an official video of tonight as well as plenty of media and community videos. Everybody seemingly had a camera.

    I don’t think so — they specifically said that the wager matches were free-for-all matches, where the top three spots got paid. Perhaps in time they will add a team one, so clans could pool their COD Points. That’d be fun — but it certainly does not sound like there is a team implementation to Wagers yet.

    At least a dozen different graphics from what I saw. The one I remember is the Treyarch logo itself. :)

    Let’s see how they implement it. They’re aware of its problems before, but that does not mean those problems will be repeated.

    there will be 50 levels. they confirmed prestige, but not the number of prestiges.

    During the mp event, they were not allowed to say anything about zombies. So thats a big hint that there might be zombies in Black Ops.
