Kmart goes crazy with Activision sales

by Dan on August 8, 2010

The bargains don’t stop this month. Kmart has some insane blowout deals starting August 8th on several big Activision franchise bundles. Band Hero full band bundle for $80, Guitar Hero 5 guitar bundle for $50, Tony Hawk: Ride for $40, and amazingly, DJ Hero for $40 (even less than the sales I talked about yesterday).

Again, all these peripherals will work with this year’s editions of the games as well (GH Warriors of Rock, DJ Hero 2, and TH: Shred). If your drums are dead or you have been curious about DJ Hero, this is a fine time to fix that.

I can only assume that it’s time to move some stock and make room for the incoming holiday games — which is fine if it saves you money, right? Kmart has been pretty active lately both on its gaming blog and on Twitter as @KmartGamer. If you like saving money, you might give them your attention. And remember, that sale starts this Sunday, August 8th.

Kmart has been coming on strong lately. Just wish my closest Kmart wasn't such a dump. I have to go to the next town over for a video game department not run by retirerees who call games the “Ataris”.

Karl: Thanks for your candid feedback. These Activision deals are both online and in-store, in case you want to stay home next week. We've been going pretty crazy with some of the deals on http://kmartgamer.com

Dan: Thanks for the kind words, my man.

(NOTE: I'm the social media manager for Kmart/Sears Electronics)

Well, it's good to see Kmart be able to latch to something, especially video games. Msn.com had an article mentioning that Sears/Kmart may not live to see the year 2020. (Here's that URL: http://tinyurl.com/2as35qx)

Considering that the last two Kmarts in my hometown closed up when their rental agreements expired earlier this year, the closest one is now 20 miles away (and no, those stores were not in the greatest of repair) and it makes Kmart a much less viable option for games. However, I hope it works for someone.

Just today I picked up DJ Hero with 2 turntables for $39.99 at Best Buy. Awesome deal
