SDCC 2010: Friday Shenanigans

by Dan on July 24, 2010

Another day, another armload of t-shirts and artwork and other things that I really should not have bought (but might be able to write off on my taxes — because dammit, if I’m going to wear that Autobot logo shirt on camera, it’s for work.) Kat floated me some more of her great photos from today, and I mixed in a few of my own. I’ll let the images do (most of) the talking.

Stan Lee signed at the Activision booth in the afternoon. The crowd was insane.

The enormous Recognizer in the Tron booth makes me squee every time I see it.

Most normal people squee when they see Felicia Day, whom we passed during a signing for The Guild.

Four awesome cosplayers re-create the Shattered Dimensions roster in real life with Beenox's Thomas Wilson.

Mattel is making a working replica of the PKE meter from Ghostbusters. My jaw hit the floor.

Dude, GREAT Whiplash. I gotta get me some electroluminescent wire.

One intrepid COD fan wore their ghillie suit. We could still see him, though.

Activision's booth. Swag + playable SMSD + playable Transformers = PACKED.

My never-ending search for cartoon redheads led me to a double Ariel all the way. I passed one Kim Possible, but I never did find Jessica Rabbit.

That's not Jessica Rabbit either, but I do see a resemblance.

One for the Hugh fans: awesome Moore creations statue of Dark Puppeteer from Freshmen.

Clearly she needs a favor, but she will give you good loot if you do it.

That's Chris Baker, another ex-journo and now of twitter.com/marvelblip fame

That mural at Island & 5th in the Gaslamp Quarter is coming along nicely...

Not sure if I’m heading back tomorrow or not. Activision will still be there, but the panels of Activision games are over and my legs need a rest. Maybe I’ll hang out by the pool…and read comic books.

Is a double Ariel better than a double rainbow all the way?

I'm glad someone picked up on that. :)
