Last week, DJ Qbert was announced as a participant in DJ Hero 2, both as a contributor to the game’s soundtrack and as an in-game character.
Turntablism received a huge evolutionary leap at this man's hands.
I first heard about DJ Qbert from my friend Andy Eddy, who has always had an ear for music that I find interesting and/or confusing. He said “You’ve got to hear this — it’s a group called the Invisibl Skratch Piklz.” He then played me “So Retarded” and I had absolutely no idea what the hell I was hearing. If his work doesn’t leave you scratching your head, you’re not listening. He showed up at an Activision press event to play the game this week, and if his name did not provide enough gamer cred, please check the cover art from his DVD. I approve.
This week he’s joined by Tiësto, who has headlined at music festivals Coachella and Bonnaroo (not to mention the Olympics) and was named the world’s best DJ for three consecutive years by DJ Magazine. He’s also worked as a producer with Muse, Justin Timberlake, and Flo Rida, among other notable names. He, too, will be an in-game character in DJ Hero 2 and will also be contributing to the game’s soundtrack. Follow him on Twitter if you want some insight into his personality, or check him out in the video below.
