It’s standard procedure for big publishers to host a press conference at E3. I’m heading to the Sony and Nintendo press conferences on Tuesday and I will report back. I know Microsoft, EA, and Ubisoft are having theirs Monday. Plus, Microsoft is presenting a Cirque du Soleil show for Project Natal; that’s Sunday night (or at least the one I’m going to is).

Activision is…doing something else. I don’t know what you would call what Activision’s doing Monday night, but it’s definitely not a press conference. It’s only being listed as an “event”…which could mean anything. Photography and videotaping are prohibited, so whatever’s being presented is for the audience only. And it’s big enough to take up the Staples Center. (Sorry, if you haven’t gotten an invite yet, you’re probably not getting one.)
I know a little bit of what’s going on. What I know, I obviously can’t say; what I’ve heard rumored out in the wild, I can’t confirm or deny, but some of it was surprising. Suffice it to say that I think you’ll hear people talking about it after it’s over.
I will be there and I will report on whatever happens.
